This class is designed with larger bodies in mind, but is open and welcoming to folks of all shapes and sizes looking for an accessible, personalized yoga experience. We discuss specific techniques to accommodate larger bodies, though those suggestions are usually helpful for everyone. We hold an accepting and collaborative space to make sure that the practice is safe and accessible for everybody and every body. The one physical requirement for participation is the ability to get down on the floor and back up again.
Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat.

Each week we will have a creative mix of traditional yoga sequences designed to develop new levels of strength, endurance and mental focus as you connect to your body and breath. We will also work on increasing flexibility in the hips and spine. Class will end on the mat with restorative poses and Savasana. A class for all levels.
What to expect in my classes
My classes start with a brief meditation and a few movements to warm up the spine and the major joints. After that, we move into a variety of yoga poses that focus on balance, mobility, and strength. I teach what might be called “stationary” yoga, meaning that we hang out in poses for several breaths (in contrast with flow/vinyasa yoga styles where movement is linked with the breath). I don’t usually play music in my classes and teach with a combination of showing/demonstrating at the front of the room and using verbal cues while walking around the room. My teaching style is direct, using both anatomical terms and a little bit of metaphor. I teach to who is in front of me in the room, connect with each student and ask how the pose feels, offer suggestions if there is pain or discomfort, and sometimes offer hands-on assists with consent. We frequently and joyfully use props in our classes. The class ends with Savasana/resting pose and a brief meditation and chanting to close the practice.
May our practice be our sanctuary - May our practice be of benefit to all beings
